Joy in the moment
Finally, we have the back patio ready and opened it today to public. Lots of people love the idea and some used it despite of the chill. It was a lot of cleaning, planting and assembling of patio sets by dear Lay, Tony and Chris over the weekend. I went to Guelph and bought a couple of hammocks from a NGO. I couldn't have it done without them and I am so thankful of the many help I have had over the weekend. And the drive to Guelph was fun too with two comrade from South America.
Now with the holiday over and stomach full of BBQ, the roaster is in the cafe waiting to be installed. We did some roasting and cupping of coffee first time here at the cafe and some customers came and do a selection of our beans. I am looking forward to start roasting once the engineer installed the chimney and gas line. Its a lot of coordination with my awning personnel and also the city. I was told I might need to even hire the police to patrol in front of the cafe due to busy street.
I hope I get to choose the policemen and I sure hope they like coffee :)
On a side note, I saw Trevor(not his real name) today finally after being absence for a week. I was impressed with him. He came into the cafe all dressed up, cleaned up and even had a hair cut. He looked really proper. It touches my heart to see how the cafe can be a comfort to those in need. After spending 5 weeks with Trevor, I get to know him better and realized sometimes in life, we all need a little boast and someone to talk to. Someone to treat us like we matter.
Despite the difficulty and possible emotional drain, I am so glad we could do it here.
Happy Tuesday.
